Yuengling Brewery is a family run business and America’s Oldest Brewery. Started in 1829 in Pottsville, PA, the history of Yuengling Brewery is steeped in stories of foresight, brewing tradition, business savvy, determination, devotion to craft, survival, and even fun and whimsy. Hence, I am excited to report the publication of a new book that expertly conveys these stories: D. G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. by author Robert A. Musson, MD and publisher Arcadia Publishing. The book is available through Arcadia Publishing at http://www.arcadiapublishing.com/9781467120296/DG-Yuengling–Son-Inc or by calling the toll-free number 888-313-2665.
In the book, the author provides a detailed pictorial history of D. G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. The book is loaded with historic photographs and is easy to read. Five generations of Yuengling family members have run this business and the book provides insight into each generation’s challenges and successes. One of my favorite stories is about how D. G. Yuengling & Son, Inc. survived Prohibition. If you have an interest in brewing history in the U.S., enjoy drinking Yuengling beers, or are a brewiana collector, this is a must read book.
