Brief Description: Lee and Jenniffer Chase, Jeff Motch and Clea Hantman started Blind Lady Ale House (called BLAH for short) in 2010. Most noteworthy, Draft Magazine named BLAH as one of the top 100 beer bars in the U.S. for 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Because BLAH is serious about its suds. Get the picture?
From the BLAH website – Lee Chase graduated from UC Davis with a degree in Malting and Brewing Science and soon after passed the prestigious Institute of Brewing Associate Membership Exam to become a Master Brewer. Lee went on to work with three breweries and a yeast lab before committing to what was then a start-up operation called Stone Brewing Company. Over the nine+ years that Lee was with Stone, they grew from a small time brewery to an internationally recognized icon of craft brewing.
Blind Lady Ale House is located in the Normal Heights neighborhood of San Diego.
Craft beer lovers line up to sip on one of 26 drafts.
Some of the beers are made on-site by Automatic Brewing Company – a 10bbl brewery located in the back of BLAH and headed by master brewer Lee Chase.
BLAH’s decor features a large collection of beer cans and bottles donated by “Big” Ben Davidson, renowned for his 1960s exploits as an Oakland Raider Defensive End.
Communal tables fill quickly with folks eager to drink quality craft beers and eat delicious food.
Blind Lady Ale House is also a Certified Purveyor of Honest Pints. That means you’ll always get an honest, full pour.
