Beer Bloggers and Writers Conference
Louden County, Virginia
August 10-11, 2018
The 2018 Beer Bloggers and Writers Conference features an outstanding blend of topics, speakers and opportunities to taste beers and visit breweries in areas surrounding Washington, D.C. After having attended the inspirational 2016 European Beer Bloggers and Writers Conference in Amsterdam, I am looking forward to attending the Loudon County conference. The conference website is https://beerbloggersconference.org/register.
The event is jam-packed with opportunities for beer bloggers and writers. In addition to the conference, there are two pre-conference excursions and one post-conference excursion.
2018 BEER BLOGGERS AND WRITERS CONFERENCE AGENDA
The two-day conference includes craft industry experts speaking on a variety of topics. They explain where the craft beer industry is now and may be heading. In addition, there are sessions on setting up and improving social media accounts. The keynote speaker will be Sam Calagione of Dogfish Head Brewing, which has grown to be one of the Top 20 breweries in the United States.
On Friday afternoon, there will be beer tastings and conference sponsors at the Beer Expo. Then off to another location for tastings from Loudon County’s 24 breweries and dinner at Vanish Farms Brewery.
There are more education sessions on Saturday, finishing up with 5-minute talks from fellow attendees. Then comes the challenge of 10 brewery representatives each having 5 minutes to explain and pour their beers and answer questions. The evening concludes with an offsite dinner hosted by the Virginia Craft Brewers Guild.
EXCURSIONS
Three exceptional excursions are available for attendees wanting to learn more about the craft beer industry in Maryland, Delaware and Virginia. The first pre-conference excursion is a visit to the Guinness Open Gate Brewery & Barrel House on August 7 & 8. The second is to Dogfish Head Brewery and Restaurant on August 8 & 9. On August 12, post-conference excursion attendees head down to Richmond, Virginia for lunch at Triple Crossing Brewing, a tour of Stone Brewing, a tasting tour of several Richmond breweries, and a tasting and tour at Strangeways Brewing and The Answer Brewpub. Topping off the evening is dinner at America’s Number 1 craft beer bar, Mekong. Whew!!! Hope I make it to the finish line!
Any beer writer or blogger wishing to interact with craft beer industry leaders and other bloggers/writers should consider attending this very fine and fun event.
Cheers!
