Over 10,000 people attended Saturday’s (June 23rd) sold out 91X presents BeerX Festival for craft beer, music and fun. Held in San Diego’s Waterfront Park, this year’s 4th Annual 91X presents BeerX delivered in heaps. In fact, the only thing 91X BeerX didn’t deliver was blue skies. Everything else was Xceptional. Produced by California’s most successful and respected craft beer festival producer Brew Ha Ha Productions and premier music festival production company Synergy Global Entertainment (SGE), the 91X BeerX festival featured some of the finest craft breweries and hottest local bands.
Festival co-producer Cameron Collins of Brew Ha Ha Productions said, “BeerX took San Diego by storm last year with an amazing lineup of bands and an impressive list of breweries from San Diego and beyond! This year, we have assembled even more incredible breweries who will be showcasing their absolute BEST at BeerX! San Diego is famous around the world for its beer and this festival is a perfect representation of what San Diego and Southern California have to offer!”
VIP and early entry ticket holders could enter the festival at noon. General admission started at 1pm.
CRAFT BEER
With more than 30 brewery participants and over 150 different craft beer selections, the festival provided a broad array of beer choices. Any craft beer lover could appreciate the range and quality of beers available to sample. Unlimited beer samples were provided until 4 pm. VIP and early entry ticket holders benefited from short lines while sampling beers between noon and 1pm.
In addition, the festival featured a craft beer and food pairing seminar offered at three different times.
Volunteers poured unlimited beer samples at the 91X BeerX Festival until 4pm
One of my favorite festival beers came from New Glory Craft Brewery, located in Sacramento, Their “Do You Even Mosaic Broh?” American IPA hit all my right spots. Brewed with 100% Mosaic hops, this West Coast-style IPA delivered vibrant citrus and tropical fruit flavors.
Do You Even Mosaic Broh? I know I do!
Another of my favorites was Pure Project Brewing’s “Murklands” American Pale Ale. This highly crushable beer bursts with citrus and tropical fruit flavors. Organic rye is included in the brewing process to create a spicy backbone with a dry finish. I’m looking forward to visiting this San Diego brewery soon.
Music
The 2018 BeerX music lineup featured Slightly Stoopid (a local favorite), Stick Figure, Pepper, Fishbone (original lineup), Ethan Tucker Band, Marujah and Band Of Gringos. Each band provided energy and verve, creating an increasing level of crowd Xcitement from one set to the next.
My personal favorite, Fishbone, delivered an eclectic and energetic performance that blended ska, rock, punk and funk. The blend created a unique sound that makes you want to dance. In addition, humor and social commentary pack their song’s lyrics.
Norwood Fisher, bass player and founding member of Fishbone, said, “I’m filled with gratitude that life’s course has brought us to the reunification of the classic Fishbone lineup! We all recognize that there was a time when it seemed so unlikely that we’d reach this point. And that fuels a personal excitement when we’re hitting the stage. It’s ultra-appropriate that we’re reconnecting with our friends at 91X. 91X was there for us at the earliest stages of our career. And it’s bad ass that we can party with them now!”
Final Thoughts
First of all, Brew Ha Ha Productions and Synergy Global Entertainment have demonstrated over and over they know how to put together outstanding beer and music festivals. 91X presents BeerX flawlessly combined outstanding craft beer with wicked music.
