Brouwerij de Molen:
Visiting Brouwerij de Molen
Brouwerij de Molen is a craft beer brewery located in Bodegraven in the Netherlands. Bodegraven is a small, beautiful town that is about a 30 minute drive or train ride from Amsterdam.
Started by Menno Olivier and John Brus, Brouwerij de Molen features a diverse style of beers. In fact, this brewery creates at least one new beer every six weeks that they have never brewed before and may never brew again. However, I am particularly partial to their barrel-aged stouts and porters. Two of my favorites are Tsarina Esra Imperial Porter and Hel & Verdoemenis (Hell and Damnation) Misto Russian Imperial Stout. Both can be found in the United States.
The original brewery started in a windmill built in 1697 that is now a cafe featuring their beers and good food. The brewery is located a short walk down the street. I love visiting Bodegraven and Brouwerij de Molen.
