Beer Noir: Fear.Movie.Lions
He seduced her to go with him using three simple words – “Fear. Movie. Lions”. The words themselves were alluring but they also held a mysterious secret.
Together, they entered a dimly lit theater and discovered they were alone. Before the theater curtains opened, they shared a Stone Brewing Co. Double IPA named “///Fear. Movie. Lions”. The beer’s slightly hazy, deep gold color and white foam exuded a massive aroma of fresh farm fruit with a hint of pineapple. One sip delivered intoxicating flavors of fresh-squeezed fruit juice, strawberry, blueberry, grapes, and a hint of white sage.
They stared at one another, not noticing the parting curtains. The screen flickered to life and cast foreboding shadows.
The movie began with a black-and-white image of a forest with swaying trees. Suddenly, a roar shattered the theater’s quiet, and a lion jumped onto the screen. The couple jolted in unison and then sheepishly smiled.
The lion’s eyes glowed with an otherworldly, piercing intensity. As the movie unfolded, the line between reality and fiction blurred. The theater walls seemed to fade away. The couple were no longer mere spectators.
And so, in that eerie moment, the couple shared an unforgettable experience. They had stepped beyond the screen, into a realm where cinema and reality merged. The lion roared once more.
The memory of those three alluring words, “Fear. Movie. Lions”, initiating that evening lasted all their lives. Because on that night, they bonded and remained together for many years until their death.
Oh, and the mysterious secret of the three words? They reference a global positioning system that assigns three words to every three-meter square on the globe. Look up ///fear.movie.lions and it will lead you to Stone Brewing Richmond – the Virginia home where “///Fear. Movie. Lions” Double IPA was first released.
