When I considered acquiring Anchor Brewing Company, I learned the story of this amazing brand – America’s oldest craft beer – is deeply rooted in this great place and the two are forever connected.”
“I am humbled and excited to be part of this city and its rich community. San Francisco, and now, Anchor Brewing, are both experiencing the magic of rebirth. I have always believed brands born in places like this deserve to be treasured, respected, and loved.”

Hi Ron,
Time to get together again and hoist a few?
You’re always many steps ahead of me re good beer. Including breaking news about good beer.
This blog post hits close to home and activates my (few remaining?) nostalgic synapses. Anchor Steam was the first “premium” beer I bought often (when I had the money) while matriculating at UC Berkeley during the late 1970s. Drank copious pitchers of the stuff with friends (underage, of course) at the Cheshire Cat pub on the north side of campus. Cheshire Cat is long gone now.
When flying through SFO over the years I always made sure to drink an Anchor Steam or two at the airport bar before boarding my connecting flight. Also bought/enjoyed Liberty Ale and Old Foghorn barley wine over the years. Good memories.
Cheers,
John
Hi John! I’m definitely interested in getting together.
