LA Wildfire Relief

Since January 7th wildfires have ravaged the Los Angeles area, displacing tens of thousands of people and claiming at least 24 lives as of January 14th. The Palisades fire has engulfed over 23,000 acres and destroyed more than 2800 structures. The Eaton fire has engulfed more than 14,000 acres and destroyed more than 5700 structures. Over 100,000 L.A. County residents have been displaced by the wildfires. Both the Palisades and Eaton fires rank among the deadliest and most destructive in California history.

In response, numerous businesses have established fundraising initiatives to help provide Los Angeles (LA) Wildfire Relief, including breweries, bars, and restaurants. You can help others by drinking and eating at some of these participating businesses.

LA Wildfire Relief

Here are three examples of the ongoing initiatives supporting LA Wildfire Relief that allow you to drink or eat while supporting others.

We Love LA Wildfire Relief Beer

WE LOVE LA is an international fundraising collaboration that brings breweries and beer lovers together to raise funds and coordinate support for those impacted by the LA wildfires.

Like the incredible outpouring of support from businesses and individuals — many opening their doors to accept donations, provide meals, and mobilize support —Common Space Brewery in Hawthorne, California was compelled to take action. Inspired by @sierranevada Resilience IPA and @mauibrewingco Kokua Project, they launched WE LOVE LA.

Within days of their announcement, Creature Comforts and Firestone Walker approached Common Space with an offer to help manage and expand the campaign. Since then, more than 150 breweries have committed to amplify these efforts.

Participating breweries will brew their own unique WE LOVE LA beer with a portion of sales benefiting @launitedway

These are just 3 examples of the many breweries, restaurants, and bars offering LA Wildfire Relief initiatives. Check your restaurants’ social pages to find their initiatives and stay up to date. Also keep in mind that most spots should be contacted directly before placing large orders.

The need for support is immense and will be ongoing for months (maybe years). So drinking and eating at breweries, bars, and restaurants supporting these types of initiatives establishes a great way for you to give in incremental amounts over a longer period of time.
