I recently published a conversation with Chris Banker – creator of a beer that was the winner of Stone Brewery’s 2014 American Hombrewers Association-sanctioned homebrew competition. As the competition winner, the beer was commercially produced (with minor collaborative adaptations by Stone Brewing and Cervecería Insurgente) and released in 2014 as a collaboration beer known as Chris Banker/Stone/Insurgente Xocoveza (pronounced SHO-CO-VAY-ZA) Mocha Stout.

Beer critics raved about Chris Banker/Stone/Insurgente Xocoveza Mocha Stout with Draft Magazine naming it one of the top 25 beers of 2014; RateBeer giving the beer an overall score of 100 out of a possible 100, and Beer Advocate rating Xocoveza as World Class.

At the time, I noted there were no plans to re-release this wonderful beer. Now there is a petition to make Stone Xocoveza Mocha Stout a yearly release. The petition has already caught Stone’s attention – so much so that Stone Brewing promoted the petition on their Facebook page today as part of Cinco de Mayo.

I really think this is an important cause, and I encourage you to sign the petition too. It’s free and takes just a few seconds of your time.

If you have already had this beer, I am convinced you will want to sign the petition so you can enjoy this brew again. If you haven’t had this beer, you should sign the petition so you may have the chance to try it.

Here are two additional quick things you can do:

  • Post the petition on Facebook and Twitter.
  • Forward this article or the petition link to anyone you know who might be interested.

Your vote and support can make a difference. This world-class beer deserves to live on.

Viva la Chris Banker/Stone/Insurgente Xocoveza Mocha Stout!

Thanks and Salud!
