Stone Brewing Releases Gimme Yule Gimme Fire Barrel-Aged Bock

Looking for an alternative to eggnog this holiday season? Stone Brewing has your solution – Stone Gimme Yule Gimme Fire Barrel-Aged Bock. For this extra-special 2022 One Batch Dispatch, Stone took a German-style holiday bock (that’s the “yule”) and aged it in charred bourbon barrels (that’s the “fire”). To be specific, this beer was aged 3 months in freshly-dumped Bulleit Rye Whiskey barrels. Dark malts and Munich malt from Germany combined with barrel complexity give this beer a rich caramel and toffee character. There’s a hint of sweetness you’d expect for a holiday beer, but it’s the balance and subtlety that make this 9.6% creation worth celebrating.

As the series name implies, Stone brewed one tankful of this unique creation. The only way to get it is from Stone Brewing Bistros, Tap Rooms or their online store (shipping to CA, DC, OH and VA). So hurry to Stone before this limited release beer disappears.

Tröegs Releases Double Blizzard DIPA

Tröegs Independent Brewing announces the release of Double Blizzard, an amplification of its crowd-pleasing winter IPA, Blizzard of Hops. Weighing in at 8.3% ABV, this semi-hazy Double IPA boasts huge citrus and pineapple notes with a hint of soft pine. “We like to think of it as Blizzard of Hops’ big brother,” says Tröegs’ brewmaster and co-founding brother John Trogner.

To achieve Double Blizzard’s smooth texture and mouthfeel, Tröegs uses a cooler temperature for its kettle hop additions. This process softens the character of the Centennial, Chinook and El Dorado hops used in the beer’s recipe. On the cold side, Tröegs dry-hops Double Blizzard with four pounds per barrel of Chinook and Galaxy.

A limited release for the winter season, Double Blizzard is available in 16-oz. cans and 1/2 and 1/6 kegs everywhere Tröegs beer is sold.

Alesmith Brewing and Harland Brewing Release West West DIPA

Alesmith Brewing collaborated with their friends at Harland Brewing to create West West, a double-dry hopped DIPA (8% ABV). The beer features Strata, Simcoe Cryo, and HBC 586 hop varieties. West West delivers smooth, balanced flavors of passion fruit, citrus, mango, and guava with a clean finish. A classic style brewed true to both breweries’ San Diego roots.
