Prepare yourself for an unforgettable culinary voyage through Little Tokyo at the 9th annual Delicious Little Tokyo event! Presented by Go Little Tokyo, this immersive one-day extravaganza offers an array of taste experiences and interactive workshops. This year holds special significance as the community celebrates the 140th anniversary of Little Tokyo, marking a century and a half of cultural richness, resilience, and community spirit and the 25th anniversary of the Little Tokyo Community Council (LTCC), dedicated to preserving the vibrant heritage and fostering the flourishing future of this historic neighborhood. 

Delicious Little Tokyo attendees are invited to honor the enduring legacy of historic businesses that have been instrumental in shaping Little Tokyo’s success, all while savoring the authentic culinary treasures that define this vibrant community. Whether indulging in self-guided foodie tours such as the J-Town Munch & Lunch or immersing themselves in enlightening workshops like the new Miso Ball Workshop and Tasting and the captivating Baijiu 101, attendees will satisfy their cravings, savor exceptional beverages, and uncover the concealed treasures of Little Tokyo.

DELICIOUS LITTLE TOKYO SCHEDULE  | SATURDAY MAY 4

LITTLE TOKYO FOOD TOURS

Nom Nom Nihonmachi 

What: Enjoy a self-guided walking and tasting tour of Nihonmachi (Japantown) and pick up a delicious menu of savory favorites, as well as a limited edition drawstring backpack commemorating the 140th anniversary of Little Tokyo, and a Little Tokyo enamel pin.

When: 1-3 p.m. 

Price: $65 per person

J-Town Munch & Lunch 

What: Enjoy a self-guided walking food tour of Little Tokyo featuring some tasty favorites of the neighborhood like yakisoba and chicken karaage. Tour guests will also receive a limited edition drawstring backpack commemorating the 140th anniversary of Little Tokyo, and a Little Tokyo enamel pin.

When: 1-3 p.m. 

Price: $65 per person

Food History Tour of Little Tokyo 

What: Take a stroll back in time to learn about Little Tokyo’s rich food history! Join us for an educational walking and tasting tour led by Bill Watanabe and Mike Okamura of the Little Tokyo Historical Society (LTHS) highlighting the history of some of Little Tokyo’s longest standing small businesses and culinary favorites such as imagawayaki and shabu shabu. From the birthplace of the fortune cookie to the first ramen noodle shop in the United States, these sites were integral in the making of our Little Tokyo community and Japanese American food landscape that we know today.

When: 2-3 p.m. & 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Price: $45 per person

WORKSHOPS

Miso Ball Workshop & Tasting 

What: Taste and learn about the different types of miso with certified fermentation expert and miso sommelier Yoko M. Lamn. Participants will also create and customize their own miso balls to take home and enjoy as miso soup.

Where/When: 

    • Yoboseyo! Superette (358 E 2nd Street) from 11 a.m.-12:30 p.m. 

    • Japanese American National Museum (100 N Central Avenue) from 2-3:30 p.m. 

Price: $30 per person 

Additional Information: 

    • 11 a.m. session participants will receive one cafe beverage from Yoboseyo! Superette.

    • 2 p.m. session participants will receive an admission voucher for the Japanese American National Museum.

Emoji-Pan Workshop

What: Decorate your very own emoji-pan at Okayama Kobo! Create fun characters such as Kobo Kuma and Koinobori, or carp streamer in Japanese. Koinobori are carp-shaped windsocks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate Kodomo no Hi or Children’s Day!

Where: Located inside the lobby of the Miyako Hotel in Little Tokyo on Historic 1st Street

When: 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Price: $35 per person

Intro to Whisky & Spirits

What: An introduction to Japanese Whisky & Spirits. Learn about why people are falling in love with Japanese whisky craftsmanship. Ticket price includes a flight of four selections and a high ball.

Where: Wolf & Crane (366 E 2nd Street)

When: 12:30–1:30 p.m.

Price: $40 per person (*must be at least 21 years of age. Government-issued photo ID required at check-in).

Premium Whisky & Spirits

What: Head to Wolf & Crane for a premium course on Japanese whisky & spirits. This experience is perfect for those who are already familiar with Japanese whisky and spirits and looking to try a high-end selection. Ticket price includes a premium selection and Wolf & Crane t-shirt.

Where: Wolf & Crane (366 E 2nd Street)

When: 2-3 p.m.

Price: $65 per person (*must be at least 21 years of age. Government-issued photo ID required at check-in).

Baijiu 101

What: Come for a crash course on Baijiu—the most consumed liquor in the world that you’ve never heard of. You’ll get to taste two of the four main categories of the centuries-old traditional Chinese spirit and sample one of the most popular baijiu cocktails at Peking Tavern. Dragon fries will be served to accompany the tasting.

Where: Peking Tavern (236 S Los Angeles Street)

When: 3:30-4:30 p.m.

Price: $40 per person (*must be at least 21 years of age. Government-issued photo ID required at check-in).
